You can see how tiny this feather is. I found it on a wet, dark brown boardwalk at the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. You can imagine how much it blended in, but I still spotted it. This has been an amazing summer of feather finds. Because of my cancer surgery and treatment, I was home for most of the summer and many days never left. But I always went outside for a bit to get some fresh air and to bemoan the fact that no gardening was getting done. And over the course of the summer I found probably 7 or 8 Blue Jay feathers. I never actively looked--they were just where I happened to be looking. I took it as a sign that my guardian angel was indeed sticking close and doing her job. :-)
