197/365 The return of Rheinhart!
7/16/2010 Everyone showed up for a party--Phlocky and Chaucha got into the feathers, Diesel & Feezle got into the wine, Quincy couldn't find his sunglasses and they were right on his head and Kenneth was up to something fishy...
196/365 the boys heads are spinning
7/15/2010 Trying to explain a large Irish Catholic family tree is daunting. There is a Dennis, a Thomas, a John in every generation--sometimes several. Half a dozen Matts, Walters and Eds and countless Marys. Thank goodness for Serenus, there is only one of him!

Mary Dooley O'Connell
1850-1905 My great grandmother, Cecelia's mother. My father thought this may have been a wedding portrait.
I have started a membership at Ancestry.com and was contacted by a woman who saw my info. The woman in the photo is who we have in common. This is my great grandmother and her step brother is the great grandfather of the woman from Ancestry. We are getting together next week to meet and compare notes. So our great grand parents were step siblings. There is a bit of unsettling family history around these folks, too. Mary Dooley's sister had stepchildren--and according to a written account by a relative, the sister was horrendously cruel to the step children. According to this account, the stepchildren wept with joy when the step mother died. One of these stepchildren ended up marrying one of Mary Dooley's kids. They would have been cousins by marriage, but not by blood. Scandalous. LOL

Brent on the steps of the Beekman 1802 Mercantile
I've become a big fan of the show "The Fabulous Beekman Boys" on Planet green. It's a reality show about a gay couple who buys an old mansion in central NY and end up being more involved than they ever thought they would, raising goats, making goat cheese and goat milk soap. It a very funny, sometimes touching show. We went to Sharon Springs today and found out that Brent was working in the Mercantile where they sell the soap and cheese. He was gracious enough to come out and pose on the porch for a photo and seemed surprised that I didn't want to be in the picture with him. It never even occurred to me because I am always on the other side of the camera. He was very sweet and very funny and when we told him we watched the show, he said "I'm not as mean in real life as I am on the show." (They do bicker a lot, but I heard an interview with them on the radio and they said when the TV show winnows it down to little snippets at a time, it just seems worse than it is. I am assuming they bicker no more than any other couple...)

We are officially through the halfway mark for the 365s and we haven't missed a day. We had a few nieghbors over for pizza and wings, wine and watermelon. An, no, I didn't make the boys do the dishes.

One of my bull terrier friends noted that it was cool to have a plant that did shadow puppets.

These are pearls of my late aunt. After she died , my two sisters and I went through her jewelry and each took a set of pearls. I needed a shot late in the day for my 365 so I just looked around the house. I looked in a box that had jewlery, saw these, set them on the bed and snapped a few pictures, hoping they would turn out and was very pleased with the results. One of my more artisitic shots.
